Legendary keyboardist Johnny (G) Gauci on Hammond and Piano (Ed Kuepper, Leonardo’s Bride, Perry Keyes); front men Steve Griffiths (Australian Doors Show, The Sins and Simon Meli (Ooh La La, The Widowbirds); Nick Meredith (CNNN, Basement tribute nights) on guitars; drums from Matt Morrison (Continental Blues Party, The Hippos, The John Field Band) and Dave Harding (Backsliders, Red Rivers, Four Day Riders) on bass.
No weekend cowboys - this band has been entertaining for seven years and its individual musicians have carved out careers in the live entertainment market over the past 2 decades.
Our sound ? Dedicated to the music of Stax. Think Otis Redding, Sam n’ Dave, Booker T and the MGs – this is the southern soul that inspired the Blues Brothers – with the credibility and energy that comes from Memphis 1967. Dig it!
The band have been packing them in at venues such as The Vanguard, The Basement, Notes, The Brass Monkey and The Metro Theatre. They launched the STAX documentary “RESPECT YOURSELF- The History Of STAX” at the 2008 Sydney film festival. They’ve entertained crowds at Darling Harbour Jazz and Blues Festival, Cronulla Jazz and Shiraz Festival, Sydney City Council Events, Live Green, Peats Ridge Festival and The Great Escape Festival to name a few.
Johnny G & The E Types always deliver a hard hitting, high energy show that will make any audience move.
