Claude Hay

ClaudeHay_WithGear_HiRes_700.jpg Hailing from Sydney’s Blue Mountains, Music Oz (2010) blues / roots finalist Claude Hay is a rarity in today’s musical landscape; you see only one guy but the plethora of sound and music you hear makes you wonder where the rest of the band is. He is the modern-age One Man Band, being one of Australia’s best looping aritsts. He fuses slide guitar, sitar, bass and electronic percussion in a loop-driven edge-of-the-seat live show that invokes the best of stomping trad blues with a funk-dance edge that is making people’s ears stand up and take notice.

Claude Hay’s independently released debut album “Kiss the Sky” (2007) was the ticket he needed to perform at venues and festivals all over the world, including in the UK, Europe and the US on stages famous for giving the likes of Springsteen, Joplin and Hendrix a foot in the door.

“One of the most visually exciting blues players I’ve seen, I can’t believe he does all those sounds live” – Drew Wanjert, CEO,Phanphest, New Jersey, USA

Back home Claude’s unique talents have been doing the rounds with some of the rising stars of the Aussie roots scene including Ash Grunwald, The Fumes, Dallas Frasca, Marshall and The Fro and Chase The Sun to name just a few. He’s been seen treading the boards at The Blue Mountains Festival, Peats Ridge, Newtown, Gumball and Surry Hills Festivals and tracks from “Kiss The Sky” have graced the airwaves via Triple J, Triple M, FBi and independent radio stations worldwide.
“How Can You Live With Yourselves” hit number 1 on Triple Js roots charts upon release on the net whilst the film clip has been aired on Rage during the April tour. The single pre-empts the release of the album “Deep Fried Satisfied” due out in September 2010
